FORTY-YEAR OLD NIGERIAN WOMAN FROM ENUGU AMONG VICTIMS OF MASS SHOOTING IN OAKLAND,CALIFORNIA

Forty-year old Nigerian mother of three,Doris Chibuko was among the victims of a deadly shooting at the Koreans Nursing School in Oakland,Califirnia on monday,April 2,2012.Doris was among the seven people that were fatally shot by a lone gunman at Oakland's Oikos University in Oakland,California.

Doris hailed from Enugu State in the SouthEastern region of Nigeria.Before migrating to the U.S,she studied and practiced Law in Nigeria before marrying Efanye Chibuko in 2002.The killing of Doris happened two months away from her graduation from the small private college.She and her colleagues were murdered by a fellow student,One Goh who later surrendered to the police at a Safeway Grocery store,several miles away.The gunman was allegedly targeting a female school administrator. 

The 43year-old Korean-American who had been expelled from Oikos University for anger management issues had been co-operative since being taken into custody after monday's shooting but was not particularly remorseful.Those close to him say he had been consumed by an inability to get along with women.He is expected to face charges from prosecutors today.
About 1000 people including family and friends of the victims gathered for a memorial service on tuesday evening at the Allen Temple Baptist Church, where the congregation consists of mainly African-Americans and Korean-Americans.The service was conducted in English and Korean.Many of the assembled wept quietly with hands clasped and heads bowed.

One of the speakers,Mayor Jean Quen said the gun violence that shook Oakland this week could occur anywhere in America.This is America where you can find a gun easier than mental health services,he said.May the souls of the departed rest in peace.
