GOV FASHOLA SACKS OVER 1000 LAGOS STATE STRIKING DOCTORS

Gov Raji Fashola has sacked all striking Lagos state doctors.A dismissal letter by the CMD of Lagos state university teaching hospital (Lasuth),Prof David Oke was sent to each of the striking doctors.In the letter,the goverment accused the doctors of misconduct and absence from duty without leave.

Over 1000 Lagos state doctors operating under the aegis of Medical Guild had been on strike over the failure of the government to fully implement the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) for all doctors in the state. CONMESS is a nationwide pay scale for doctors in Nigeria put in place to check brain drain and wage disparity.It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
