FAROUKGATE : HON JAGABA DENIES RECEIVING BRIBE MONEY FROM FAROUK LAWAN
The mystery over the whereabouts of the $620,000 bribe suspended Chairman,House Committee on monitoring subsidy regime,Hon Farouk Lawan collected from oil marketer,Femi Otedola deepened yesterday as Hon Jagaba Adam Jagaba who Lawan claimed he gave the money to has denied being in custody of the money.Click on read more below to continue....
Lawan had claimed in a statement when the scandal broke that he wrote a letter to the Chairman,House Committee on Drugs, Narcotics and Financial Crimes,Hon Jagaba intimating him of attempts to bribe him and he also attached the money to the letter.
Hon Jagaba in a reply to a letter sent to him by the Speaker of the House asking for the money,denied knowledge of any letter and money sent to him or any member of his committee.His letter read''I hope this explanation lays to rest once and for all,the claims that I or my committee is in possession of the sum of $620,000 purportedly given as bribe to the Ad-Hoc Committee on the monitoring of fuel subsidy regime.
Meanwhile Farouk Lawan neither attended the plenary sitting of the House yesterday nor showed up at the Police headquarters.He had told the police that he would be attending the House plenary yesterday to retrieve the money and hand it over to the police.He was at his home,consulting with his lawyers and receiving visitors.He is expected at the Force headquarters today.
