PRESIDENT JONATHAN FIRES NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISER AND MINISTER OF DEFENCE

President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday night fired his National Security Officer,Gen Owoye Azazi and Minister of Defence,Alhaji Bello Mohammed.Their firing came after a meeting of the National Security Council in Abuja.


Jonathan had been under intense pressure to fire both men over the high level of insecurity in the country,especially the Boko Haram insurgency in Northern Nigeria.Col Sambo Dasuki, a former Aide-de-Camp to ex-dictator,Gen Ibrahim Babangida is the new NSA.The changes were announced via a tweet by Presidential spokeman,Dr Reuben Abati.
