UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA,NSUKKA STUDENT COMMITS SUICIDE

A third year Physics and Astronomy student of the University of Nigeria,Nsukka was found dangling from a rope in the unfinished Franco building beside the hockey pitch on the campus two days ago, May 31.The student,Onyebuchi Okonkwo had suffered a mental condition for which he was hospitalized for about a month last year.Click on read more below to continue...


His roomates said he had left the room about 2am and they figured he was going to read but he never returned to the room.His body was later found,dangling from a rope.The words,The controversy is over was written on a note near his body.

This raises the issue of mental health treatment in this country. A lot of people with mental conditions are either not properly diagnosed or properly treated.Recently,there has been a rise in cases of people commiting suicide,even those who have everything going for them.
