A 2008 Mercedes Benz SUV carrying 5 adults and 3 children smashed into a concrete pillar and flipped over before bursting into flames at about 3:15am,early Sunday,killing 3 women and two children,reducing the car to a mangled mess.The victims are yet to be identified publicly but were reported to have just left an annual convention of the Arondizuogu Association at a banquet hall, nearby.Click on read more below to see more pictures of the accident scene.
The driver,a 45year-old woman,along with another adult and a child inside the vehicle survived and were hospitalised at Jamaica
Hospital.The SUV was travelling east on Atlantic Avenue in the New York borough of Queens when it hit a concrete pillar supporting the Air Train to John F.Kennedy International Airport,
authorities said.The vehicle appeared to be speeding and blew
through two red lights,police and witnesses told the Daily News of New York.
