SENATE CONFIRMS FIRST FEMALE CHIEF JUSTICE OF NIGERIA


Incumbent CJN,Justice Musdapher and the incoming CJN,Justice Muktar
The Senate confirmed Justice Aloma Mariam Muktar,Wednesday paving the way for her swearing-in next week.President Goodluck Jonathan will on Monday inaugurate her as the first female Chief Justice of Nigeria even as the incumbent,Justice Musdapher bows out tomorrow.

Born in Kano state,Muktar is the first female lawyer from northern Nigeria.
She is the first woman to be appointed Justice of the Court of Appeal.She is also the first female Justice of the Court of Appeal to make it to the Supreme Court.

    As part of your judicial reforms. I will suggest you set up a special anti-corruption court that will be trying corruption cases so as to have speedy trial of corrupt government officials and they can be brought to book in timely manner.
