SUBSIDY FRAUD : ADOKE'S ABSENCE STALLS TRIAL
The trial of oil marketing firms and their directors before the Lagos
High Court in Ikeja in their alleged complicity in the fuel subsidy
scam was stalled yesterday due to to the absence of the Attorney-
General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice,Mr
Mohammed Bello Adoke.
As the chief law officer of the federation,Adoke was expected to
lead the prosecution to commence the trial of oil marketers suspected to have defrauded the Federal Government through the fuel subsidy scheme.Mr Adoke was said to have just returned from
an overseas trip and could not make it to court yesterday.The cases
were adjourned to today and Mr Adoke is expected in court today

The so-called trial of the oil subsidy thieves by the EFCC is a fluke and a mockery of the entire legal system in Nigeria.Cases are never concluded. Those found culpable in the few cases concluded are never punished sufficiently, in order to serve as a deterent to others.
