ZERO TOLERANCE FOR LAWLESSNESS SAYS FASHOLA AS HE CONFRONTS COLONEL DRIVING ON BRT LANE
If previous governments both military and civilian had built a rail system for the overpopulated Lagos metropolis to tackle the perennial traffic problem
then maybe what happened yesterday between civillian governor of Lagos State,Raji Fashola and Colonel K.I Yusuf would not have occurred.Fashola was driving around the outer Marina when he sighted a military car driving on the lane dedicated to only Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) buses.Click on read more below to continue and see photo of the army Colonel saluting Fashola...
Fashola stopped and accosted the military car which was conveying Colonel I.K Yusuf.Perhaps realising the problem that could come being accosted by Fashola,Yusuf reportedly alighted from his car and saluted Fashola, repeatedly saying,''I am sorry, very, very sorry.''But the governor asked 'Why,as a senior military officer',did you choose to break the law, instead of preserving it?''
According to Fashola''There is zero tolerance for lawlessness, there is zero tolerance for breach of our regulations and we are going to do more of this.We are going to take control of our traffic. We cannot build our way out of traffic congestion, our responsbility is to manage traffic and manage congestion. The officer was reported to his superiors for sanctions.
