The Land Rover SUV she was driving |
denied crushing a Lagos State TrafficManagementAuthority
(LASTMA) official to death on the morning of Thursday, August
9,2012 in a statement.However, LASTMA's General Manager,
Mr Babatunde Edu says the agency is standing by it's statement of
what happened and that LASTMA has photographs and witnesses
to substantiate it's case. So who is lying? The courts would have to
decide that. This is a very pathetic case as someone has lost his
life and a young mother of three young children with the last being
only three months old is currently being held in detention. She supposedly resumed work not too long ago from maternity leave.
Her baby is with her in detention. What will happen to her job while she is in detention?Click on read more below to read
her statement....
''I was driving on Lekki-Epe Expressway trying to navigate to the
other side of the road when I was accosted by a LASTMA official.
The path I took was a one-way but residents of IKota Estate
usually take it beause of the on-going road reconstruction on the alternative road. While I was discussing with the LASTMA
official,a vehicle crushed another LASTMA official a few metres
away, causing commotion.I did not run from the crime scene as it
was not far fro my home but instead came down from my car
and called my husband.''
''Afterthe LASTMA officials drove my car away,I went to the
police station with my husband to report the incident. When I
got to the police station, the area commander immediately took
over the case and took me to the office of the commissioner
of police.I heard the state governor had already told him about
the case. When I narrated my ordeal to the CP,he did not believe
my story. He immediately ordered that I should be taken to the
State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).I am the innocent
person here, yet I am being made to pay for what I did not do.''
This is so sad.....
ReplyDeleteThis sorry is sad oooo.Only God can save this lady.
ReplyDeleteLASTMA officers are just too overzealous. Why would they just jump in front of a car because they want to arrest traffic offender. Gov Fash has said that they should just snap the car with their camera, because of the EGUNJE (bribe) they will continue to risk their life.
