LEADERSHIP NEWSPAPER PETITIONS POLICE OVER ASSAULT OF PHOTO JOURNALIST


Leadership newspaper has petitioned the Lagos State Commissioner of Police,Umaru Manko, over the assault of its
photo journalist, Benedict Uwalaka by some mortuary attendants
at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) while
taking photos of the release of bodies of victims of the Dana plane

  In a petition filed by Adamu Ibrahim,a lawyer for Leadership
Newspapers,Ibrahim urged Manko to invetigate and arrest those
behind the assault.The petition was also sent to the state's Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice,LASUTH and the
management of the mortuary.

In response,the Lagos State Police Command had asked the
management of TOS funeral to produce the employees accused 
of assaulting Uwalaka.The police said the culprits must report 
at the Ikeja police station today unfailingly and asked the company
to co-operate fully as their identities were still unknown.However,
Channels News had aired a video clip on the day the incident 
occurred so the police could take a look at that clip.
