TOP COMMANDER OF BOKO HARAM FEARED KILLED IN KANO

A top commander of the Boko Haram sect has been killed in Kano by the Joint Task Force.The British Broadcasting Corporation quotes “reliable sources” as saying that the top commander was the spokesman for the sect, Abu Qaqa.Click on read more below to continue....

The military has previously claimed to have arrested Abu Qaqa but this was denied by Boko Haram, who said the wrong man had been detained.JTF said it stopped a car suspected to be carrying some senior Boko Haram commanders in Kano on Sunday.

A source close to the military said one of the people in the car tried to escape and was shot. He later died in the hospital.The source said some of the people in the car have informed the military that the person shot was Abu Qaqa, the man who signs emails sent to the media on behalf of the group.Analysts note that Abu Qaqa is an alias, so establishing his identity will not be easy.

“Spokesperson for the SSS, Marilyn Ogar, refused to comment on the arrests,” the report stated.Meanwhile, Boko Haram gunmen have reportedly killed 10 people in Bauchi and Kano.A group of four armed militants riding on motorcycles in Bauchi opened fire on a group of people who were playing ‘dara’ a local variant of draughts, in the small town of Zango.The gunmen killed at least six people and seriously wounded eight others.

Boko Haram gunmen had on Sunday killed a civil defence official and three members of his family in Kano.
