He was being queried on why the President had to add another extra 176 Special Forces battalion to the Brigade of Guards at the Presidential Villa on Monday.Okupe said this was because the government believed that threats from members of the sect were serious.

“We are dealing with a very serious sect, the Boko Haram sect,” he said. “I am surprised that people are asking that why the President is assuring that his security is beefed up.

“Under this circumstance, the President is the commander-in-chief, when you go to war; the commander-in-chief is the one in charge. The fact that the security in the villa is beefed up is because of necessity and circumstances.”

Okupe insisted that Nigeria was getting better under is boss, adding that the problem with Nigerians was that they “are not used to leaders who speak the truth.”

Okupe also said all was not well between the President and the members of the National Assembly, which had made it impossible for the House of Representatives to say they would not be ready to receive the President on Thursday, October 4, to present his 2013 budget.“I don’t want to deceive you that all is well between the two arms,” he said.
