On the day she went into labor, the husband took her to a private hospital in the area where she put to bed,a baby boy.Investigations have revealed that the woman was anesthesized immediately after she gave birth so she would not aware of her husband's plan to sell the baby. When she regained consciouness, she was told her baby had died. She demanded to see the body of her baby but she was told the baby had been buried already.

Suspecting foul play, she contacted the police. She told the police how her husband had once threatened to sell one of her babies in the past and how he had asked her to terminate the pregnancy because of  their financial situation but she refused.Investigations by the police revealed that Mr Olaniyan had connived with some medical satff of the hospital to sell the baby. His confessional statement led to the arrest of the doctor of the hospital and two nurses. They claimed the man gave his consent and the woman was aware of the whole plan.

Meanwhile, back in Onitsha, the home of the woman was agog with celebration as she had been looking for the fruit of the womb for 15years.Their joy was however shortlived as she was also arrested.

  1. I blame both man and woman because why should they have a baby they can't cater for. It not about poverty either. There are alot of pregenacy preventive measure out there they can use. By selling the babe, it is a criminal offence. They should have given the babe out to the woman legal by going into agreement to take custody of the child instead of selling the baby......In law both seller and buyer of stolen item are guilty.
